Gratitude

I've waited all winter for moments like these. It's felt like such a blessing to swim out in to the clear, sunlit water and practise what I've been dreaming of for several long months. This winter was particularly cold and the sea eternally murky and uninviting so I was forced to practise the art of patience.  It also gave me time to  hone my photography skills and stoke my enthusiasm in readiness for when summer arrived. Now that the water has warmed a little and has cleared due to a long period of calm seas I'm taking every opportunity to seal my camera in to its water housing and take to the sea.  I am filled with gratitude for every session, even when I wade out of the shallows shivering for having stayed a little too long in the cool water; being in the water brings so much joy to my heart and soul. Photography brings a second layer of enjoyment to the experience, some days I'm just blown away by the quality of light that surrounds me. Then there's the anticipation of not knowing how each image will turn out and the buzz of capturing something special to share with the world...
